Projects undertaken at the Hull School of Architecture, UK 1997/2002

2000/01: Urban Design, Business Innovation Park, Hull, England.

This project was undertaken as an advanced Specialist Diploma in Urban Design, as part of my Bachelor of Architecture Masters Degree. This postgraduate diploma in Urban Design was achieved as a separate qualification to the Masters programme.

I propose that as many of the traditional forms of employment within the medium to heavy industries are now in decline, reducing economic growth within the areas where they are located, a new form of catalyst for urban renewal and regeneration can be achieved within a new form of working environment. Areas of small and newly formed businesses brought together under the umbrella of the Business Innovation Park.

Architecture derives its meaning from the circumstances of its creation; and this implies that what is external to architecture – what can broadly be called its set of functions – is of vital importance (Alan Colquhoun).
