This project represents my final design project of my masters degree (Bachelor of Architecture), undertaken at the Hull School of Architecture, England, 2002. This project is also entered into this years RIBA Silver Medal Award Part 2 Design, for more details visit: presidentsmedals
typology is the study of the behavior of a superficial structure (surface structure) under deformation. the surface registers the changes of the differential space-and-time changes in a continuous deformation. this has other potentials for architectural form. the continuous deformation of a surface can lead to the intersection of interior and exterior planes in a continuous morphological change, just as in the Mobius strip.
this continuous deformation can be used in the topological form in the design of a building structure, thus embedding differential fields of space and time into an otherwise static structure.
these topological surface diagrams such as the Mobius strip are not used in Architecture in a rigorous mathematical way, but are abstract diagrams, three-dimensional models that allow architects to incorporate the ideas of differential space and time into architecture.
